Honors: We are in the middle of Romeo and Juliet, and I am very pleased with how well we are doing reading and analyzing in class. Nightly HW has been excellent, working with significant passages. We are currently writing thematic poetry and practicing public speaking skills (PVLEGS). Before break, the students will memorize their poem and present it to groups of increasing size. This will create baby steps to presenting in front of the class.
CP1:
Period 7: We are still reading Hole in My Life and working with PVLEGS Public Speaking techniques during class as well. Remember to keep up with the reading at night with HIML!
Period 6: We are beginning Romeo and Juliet and working with PVLEGS Public Speaking in class. Many nights there will be a short quote analysis HW in the recap log.
CP2: We are currently reading Hole in My Life in small reading groups. I think this is a really successful way to study the book, and I can see you all connecting with the story. We will also be working with Sentence Composing as way to improve sentence structure and fluency.

Tuesday, January 17th
Honors: We will continue with Act 2 this week in Romeo and Juliet. Don't forget to revise your ASP papers this week for a better grade!
CP1 Period 6: We are currently reading a drama called "Gamma Rays" in class. There will be nightly homework with this short play. We will focus on symbolism within the play.
Period 7 and CP2: We are currently reading a non-fiction piece called
Hole In My Life. There is nightly reading HW with this text! We are focusing on the elements of non-fiction and a coming of age tale.

Honors: This week begins our study of Romeo and Juliet. We had a character mini-project and now we will begin to read it in class and at home. We will focus on the dualily of man throughout the play.
CP1: This week we are typing up your Of Mice and Men essay final drafts! I am optimistic when looking at the drafting going on in class. Next we are headed into a choice unit for Non-Fiction
